Harlan's Greatest Hits

Harlan Hogan's voice has been heard on many of the most famous TV and radio ads in broadcasting history. Here's a small sample:

"Raid kills bugs fast….Kills bugs dead." According to Hogan voice-over actor Danny Dark first uttered the phrase back in the '60's, but the bug spray makers later hired Hogan to speak the line in his mellower more laid-back style...except for the word "dead" which they asked Hogan to keep deep and ominous ala Danny Dark.

"Thick, rich Heinz catsup…. Good things come to those who wait." "This ad was not only notable for it's catchphrase but because it featured a young Matt Le Blanc, future star of the TV sitcom Friends. "Believe it or not they still show this commercial in Greece for reasons I can't explain" Hogan says. He knows because he gets a residual check whenever it runs.

"It's the cereal even Mikey likes." This 1972 commercial for Life cereal was picked by Advertising Age magazine as one of the 50 greatest ads of all time. Hogan readily admits that the more famous quote came from one of the child actors, whose cry of "Hey, Mikey!" entered the nation's lexicon. Later Life
Cereal brought the ad back to the airwaves but with a different voice over performer. "At the time we (The Screen Actors Guild) were on strike, and I, along with all other Union performers, was not accepting any work."

"Because that little Itch should be telling you something," and "Because you never get a second chance to make a first impression." Slogans for Head & Shoulders shampoo made millions of Americans paranoid in the 1980s.

"
Who says you can't have it all?" Hogan calls this commercial for Michelob Lite something of a landmark because it was the first beer ad specifically aimed at women.

"I've done so many catchphrases says Hogan, from "You deserve a break today", and "When you care enough to send the very best " to "All your protection under one roof " and "Hey, Culligan Man!" and, he admits, more than my fair share of "Void where Prohibited" and "Member FSLIC!"
